Kirk Urso's play in defensive midfield has been a hot topic, but the staff at MLSSoccer.com voted him as one of the top 5 rookies in the league so far. He gets credit for his 5 starts and 1 assist.
The Crew traded with Montreal for the draftee, Aaron Schoenfeld. Schoenfeld is a forward who didn't sign for Montreal. The Crew traded a conditional Supplemental draft pick for him. In order to make room on the roster, Rich Balchan has been moved to the disabled list.
Most notably, it appears that there will be a two-man strike force. Just like we've all been saying!
Vukovic's agent spoke to Steve Goff and said he was signing soon with the Crew. The Montenegrin left back joined the team in Charleston and spent a little bit of time in Columbus before going back home to secure his work permit. This move probably prompted the Crew to release trialist Supplemental Draft pick Jamie Finch. Finch announced on his twitter feed that he was heading back to Seattle as he wasn't able to secure a contract.
The Crew got down and dirty for a little bit of community service. That's one thing that I really like about the team; they are really involved in service in Columbus. In a side note, why hasn't anyone else posted a fanshot? Surely I'm not the only reader who finds other interesting information on the team?
I would love to see him do that in a game. Here's hoping
The Crew added another defensive midfielder as the team signed 2nd round draft pick Kevan George. The Trinidad and Tobago native joins a crowded midfield, where he's likely going to find time with the reserve squad.
Kevan George, the draftee from Trinidad and Tobago has officially signed for the Crew.
The big thing is at the bottom. Duka will be out a few weeks because of a hamstring pull. At least it's not a tear.
Adam Jardy checks in with an injury report and it appears that both Eddie Gaven and Carlos Mendes are unlikely to play against Colorado. That means rookie Ethan Finlay likely will play right wing and Shaun Francis gets a start at left back. I'm excited to see what Finlay can do in league action, I expect a dynamic and perhaps even game changing performance. I'm less excited to see Francis, but it is a chance for him to build a case for being the long term starter.
