The Columbus Crew has made the first major move of the offseason, bringing in Ghaniana 24-year-old winger Yaw Yeboah from Wisła Kraków of the Ekstraklasa, the top league in Poland. While the deal is yet to be officially announced by the club at this time, sources close to the situation confirmed the signing to Massive Report.

A separate source told Massive Report the transfer fee from the Crew to Wisla Kraków is expected to be between €1.3 million and €1.5 million, or roughly between $1.4 million and $1.7 million. Yeboah will make more than the league's maximum budget charge of $612,500 but the Black & Gold will use Targeted Allocation Money to help buy down his salary, thus not making the winger one of the club’s three Designated Players.

Yeboah will bring pace and, ideally, statistical production from the winger position, something Columbus lacked a season ago. While the Crew managed 11 assists from wingers, the team saw only seven goals from the position in 2020. Four of those goals came from veteran Pedro Santos.

Throughout his career, Yeboah has been a part of clubs across European leagues. He joined Manchester City after graduating from the Ghanaian Right to Dream Academy in 2014 when he was 17 years old. He remained on the books with City for four seasons but never played for the Manchester club.

Yeboah went on loan to French side Lile, playing for the second team for much of the 2015-16 campaign but working his way into the first-team setup. The Ghanian made three appearances in Ligue 1, scoring no goals, although he did find the back of the net once in 20 games for the reserve side.

During the 2016-17 season, Yeboah was sent on loan to Dutch side FC Twente where he scored two goals in 20 appearances. Yeboah was again sent on loan from City the following year, playing for Real Oviedo of the Spanish Segunda, the second division in the country. He suited up for Ovideo 20 times but failed to find the back of the net.

Prior to the 2018-19 season, Yeboah finally moved away from Manchester, signing with Club Deportivo Numancia, also of the Segunda. He spent one season with the club, scoring twice in 34 appearances. The following year, Yeboah was again sent on loan, this time to Celta de Vigo, playing for the second team. He played in 20 games, scoring five goals.

After joining Wisła Kraków in 2020, Yeboah has enjoyed the best run of form of his career. The winger has appeared 47 times for the club, scoring nine goals.

At the international level, Yeboah has made four appearances for the Ghanian senior team, his first cap coming in 2019, while playing 10 times for the Under-20s and five times for the U-23s.
