The 2020 Major League Soccer season has been a long and winding road, beginning in early March and featuring pauses, delays, mid-season tournaments, game cancelations and more due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But on Tuesday, MLS finally announced its closing slate of games for the season, including Columbus Crew SC’s final games of the year.

Following Wednesday night’s home matchup with Minnesota United and Sunday’s trip to East Hartford, Connecticut to take on Toronto FC, the Crew will play nine more games to conclude the 2020 regular season, including five games on the road and four more games at MAPFRE Stadium.

Over the next month to conclude the 2020 regular season, the Black & Gold will face three familiar foes in FC Cincinnati (Wednesday, Oct. 14) on the road and New York City FC (Sunday, Oct. 18) and the Philadelphia Union (Sunday, Nov. 1) at home. The Crew has a 2-0-1 record against the team’s in-state rivals this year, including a 4-0 win at the MLS is Back Tournament and a 3-0 victory at MAPFRE Stadium in the regular season. Columbus hosted the Union on Sept. 2 in a battle of the top teams in the Eastern Conference and came away with a 1-0 victory. The second meeting between these two teams will be a nationally televised broadcast on ABC. The Black & Gold will have a chance to avenge the team’s only loss during the regular season, after falling to New York City at Red Bull Arena in late August.

The Crew is set to face just its second Western Conference foe of the 2020 regular season on Wednesday night when Minnesota comes to town, after drawing the Seattle Sounder 1-1 in Week 2. The Black & Gold will see more from out West in the final stretch of the season, going to Dallas — currently third in the West — and Houston — sitting in 10th in the West — in October.

Columbus will also meet multiple Eastern Conference sides for the first time in 2020 to close out the year. The Impact — who sit in sixth in the East — come to MAPFRE Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The Crew will travel to Orlando four days later for a battle with the third place team in the East. In the final game of October, the Black & Gold will reunite with the team’s oldest rival in D.C. United at Audi Field before hosting Atlanta to close out the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 8 as part of MLS’s Decision Day.
