How to Watch: Crew vs. Minnesota United

Columbus Crew SC got the job done in the group stage of the MLS is Back Tournament as the only team to earn all nine points. Now, it’s time for them to go after the trophy. On Tuesday, the Black & Gold face off against Minnesota United at 8 p.m. ET in the penultimate Round of 16 game in the tournament.

So far, the new season as been good to Columbus. The Crew has played five games in 2020 and has lost zero with one goal conceded, and even that came from the penalty spot.

The Loons share something similar with the Black & Gold, as they are also unbeaten through five games this year. Minnesota wiped the floor with the Portland Timbers and the San Jose Earthquakes all the way back in March and earned five points in Group D at MLS is Back. United’s last match was a 2-2 draw with the Colorado Rapids. Former Crew winger Ethan Finlay scored both goals in the encounter.

Crew: Vito Wormgoor is OUT with an ankle injury. Eloy Room is OUT with a hamstring injury. Youness Mokhtar is OUT with a muscle strain.

MNUFC: Kevin Molino is PROBABLE with a left hamstring injury.

Knockout Stage:

The winner of tonight’s game will face the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, Aug. 1 in the quarterfinals. The Earthquakes defeated Real Salt Lake 5-2 on Monday night to advance. The winner of that quarterfinal will matchup with Orlando City SC or Los Angeles Football Club in the semifinals on Aug. 6.

The Philadelphia Union and Sporting Kansas City will play the first quarterfinal match on Thursday, July 30. New York City FC will play the winner of tonight’s game between the Portland Timbers and FC Cincinnati.
