In case you missed it, SB Nation just finished Jersey Week. We’ve taken a look at the best jersey and the worse jersey of Columbus Crew SC. That got me thinking a little bigger though.
Now we’re expanding the search to the entirety of Major League Soccer, as the league celebrates its 25th year of play. This may raise questions, and this may be hurtful. But it’s just my opinion. So hold on ladies and gents, we goin’ for a ride!
For the purpose of this exercise, I’m not actually ranking the jerseys in MLS, but rather breaking them down in to categories based on how I feel about them. Let’s get to it.
Too Much Going On
If any MLS team could hypnotize their opponents, it would be Houston with the squiggly orange lines on the front of the shirt. I’m not too sure what’s with the RSL design, but it needs to go as well. The tire print on the front of the Revolution is too much and the Orlando design is just too much. It throws off the entire jersey.

Just Okay
- FC Cincinnati
- Chicago Fire
- Inter Miami FC
- Nashville SC
- Atlanta United
Two shades of blue just doesn’t work well for Cincy. Sorry. The rebranded the logo didn’t fly in Chicago and the jersey was also a miss for the Fire. Inter Miami and Nashville, as expansion clubs in the league, they have to do better. I kind of like the peach gold of Atlanta’s alternate, but it just doesn’t sit right with the white.
What a night with @adidasfootball and @fccincinnati at the MLS Jersey Reveal event in NYC. Now let’s dominate MLS in 2020. #FORWARD25 pic.twitter.com/uhnA5DAmAy

Gotta grow on me
- New York Red Bulls
- Columbus Crew SC
- Sporting Kansas City
- FC Dallas
- D.C. United
These jerseys are not bad, but they’re not good either. The black kit is sharp for New York, but it doesn’t match the Red Bull brand in my opinion. The Crew jersey was better once it had the sponsor on the front. I don’t like polka dots, but I love the color for Kansas City. I believe Dallas needs to get ride of the blue. I love the black with red shorts in D.C. Very retro.

Plain and Simple
- Colorado Rapids
- LA Galaxy
- Los Angeles Football Club
- New York City FC
- Philadelphia Union
- Seattle Sounders
The burgundy works well with the blue trim for Colorado. The silver stripe down the Galaxy jersey kinda gets lost, but it’s still sharp. It’s a simple and clean look with the Union, which is better than having a thick gold stripe down the center. I love the design for NYCFC. The Rave Green does it again in Seattle. Gold works with black for LAFC, even though those colors belong in Columbus.

My paychecks will be spent on you
I love the Loon Minnesota, absolutely love it. The off-white is super clean with the Montreal kit. I’m madly in love with Portland’s jerseys and just may get one. Toronto’s design is super nice. Mad props to Vancouver for the waves; I need one of these too.
Forget it, one of each for me please.
If you like it, then you shoulda put a WING on it... pic.twitter.com/kNq3gUlkXd
