Social media is fun. Especially when something positive happens for Columbus Crew SC.
Whether you’re browsing through Twitter, liking pictures on Instagram or simply posting your reactions to something, it’s fun. Reactions are something Crew Twitter is known for.And that’s what we have, again.
At the beginning of the year, Major League Soccer dropped the 25th anniversary kits and Columbus’ was one of the only jerseys without a sponsor. Many fans did not like it and took to Twitter to express their feelings towards the ‘Heritage kit.’
With Thursday’s announcement of Nationwide and Nationwide Children’s Hospital stepping into that role, it’s transformed into one of the best kits, and not just because it belongs to the greatest team the world has ever seen.
As expected, there were plenty of Crew reactions.
They’re on side.

Welcome to the #Crew96, @nationwidekids & @Nationwide! pic.twitter.com/IyFBIKYKOf
That’s right.
For this season, Nationwide Children’s Hospital will be the jersey sponsor for the 2020 season with Nationwide coming in next season, to help ring in the new downtown stadium opening in the summer of 2021.
Fans tended to think the new kits and the new sponsor fit together nicely.
We’ll take @Nationwide and s over Yeti any day. pic.twitter.com/QohPspBm9S

Some fans even took it further, and mentioned the dark times that the club faced in 2017 and 2018, when previous ownership was looking to relocate the club.
Really excited by & proud of the partnership between @ColumbusCrewSC and @nationwidekids/@Nationwide.

When #SaveTheCrew started we knew one of our primary goals was to dismantle the PSV/MLS narratives. This is a direct continuation of that.
The support was always here. #Crew96
Is there a better symbol for #Crew96 in 2020 than the butterfly? We’ve come through our period of darkness and emerged transformed. At our core, we are the same soul, but now have the power to fly higher than we’d ever imagined before.

There were a lot of late nights, early mornings, & never-ending meetings during #SaveTheCrew. Interviews, speeches, & countless phone conversations. Grinding and fighting. Rinsing and repeating.

Days like today & weeks like this week, let me tell you - it makes it all worth it.
Through the dark times that this club has been through, this just sheds more light on what looks to be a promising season for the Black & Gold.
