What you need to know for the Black & Gold’s first public preseason game.

Columbus Crew SC fans finally get their first glimpse of the, ideally, new and improved Black & Gold Saturday night as they take on Phoenix Rising FC. This is their first match of the 2020 Visit Tucson Sun Cup.

So far in the 2020 preseason, the club has played a series of closed-door scrimmages with little details about the match being distributed to the public. Back in January, the club faced Ventura County Fusion, defeating the USL League 2 side by a score of 5-1. Columbus then faced off against fellow MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps, battling to a 1-1 draw. Columbus and Orlando City SC were scheduled to play a scrimmage, but poor field conditions put a halt to that and that game was eventually canceled. The Crew played the San Jose Earthquakes and Sporting Kansas City, both matches resulting in wins, before kicking off this tournament against Phoenix.

Fans in Columbus, Ohio can stream the 2020 Visit Tuscon Sun Cup to keep up with the Black & Gold from home! Guilherme Torres gives you the rundown on how to do so.

Projected Lineup:

This isn’t the Carolina Challenge Cup like the team has participated in the past few years, but it is a small-sided tournament in which head coach Caleb Porter will probably throw a mixture of veterans and reserves on to the field. Fans can expect a strong starting lineup today, but don’t get too complacent with it being the regular throughout this tournament.

Here is how I think Porter will lineup the squad today:
