Crew vs Philadelphia: live stream, time, TV schedule, lineups and highlights

MLS: Columbus Crew SC at Philadelphia Union Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The playoff push ended without the Columbus Crew on the field late Wednesday in Portland. The Black & Gold return to the field tonight playing for pride in what turned out to be a dismal season against the second place team in the Eastern Conference, the Philadelphia Union.

With the playoffs out of reach, the team still has a few things to play for. There’s pride, of course, but several players are playing for 2020. Wil Trapp has been a healthy scratch from the first XI the last two games in place of David Guzman. Gyasi Zardes has started the last four games, only getting a midweek break in August. Jay Hamilton and Romario Williams may get more time to show their value.

For the Union, it’s all business. They played midweek in San Jose, but are trying to hold off Atlanta for the second spot in the conference. They want all three points to keep their place in the standings and continue an unlikely charge for the first spot over NYCFC.

What to read:

The staff is mixed on what the Crew can get out of today’s game against one of the Eastern Conference leaders. Mike Crosky breaks down the Union’s stout defense and flexible offense.
