The Columbus Crew’s home stand didn’t go as planned after two ties. The Black & Gold are desperately seeking a win on the road as they hold to slim playoff hopes.
The Crew remain seven points out of the playoffs with seven games left. This game, and most of the rest of the schedule, are must wins for the team. The 1-13-1 stretch in the middle of the season put the team well out of playoff positions and the six games points streak hasn’t included enough wins to improve their standing.
New York’s situation is vastly different. They are within four points of the top of the conference. This is one of their games in hand and they want all three points to get closer to that first round bye and home field in the playoffs that comes with.
What to read:
Ralph Schudel scouts the Citizens. Guilherme Torres talked to Pedro Santos about his career year. Torres also profiled surprise backline contributor Connor Maloney. Pat Murphy says the Crew needs more from Gyasi Zardes. The staff aren’t as hopeful that the Crew can get a result tonight.
