Traveling cross-country to face Real Salt Lake on short rest, Columbus Crew SC is still desperately seeking a win. The team is mired in a six-game winless streak and won once in their last 12 games. Without some sort of result, the season will slip further away.
The Crew continue to miss their top goal scorer (Gyasi Zardes), top assist man (Federico Higuain) and captain (Wil Trapp). The recently signed reinforcements aren’t available until next week. A thin squad will be playing the second of three games in eight days. There will be player rotation and we know Homegrown signing Aboubacar Keita will make his debut.
Salt Lake won once in their first six games, but have turned around their form since then. They have gone 6-4-1 in their last 11 games and their striker acquired this offseason, Sam Johnson, is leading the team in scoring while playmaker Albert Rusnak has six goals and three assists on the season.
