Crew vs Sporting Kansas City: live stream, time, TV schedule, lineups and highlights

What you need to know for Sunday’s game.

MLS: Sporting KC at Columbus Crew SC Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Columbus Crew SC resumes the team’s regular season campaign with a matchup of sides in unfamiliar positions, below the red line. The Crew have missed the playoff once in the last five seasons while Sporting Kansas City haven’t missed the postseason since 2010.

It’s been over three weeks since the Crew’s last Major League Soccer game due to the Gold Cup break. The team defeated Pittsburgh and lost to Atlanta in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup over that time. The Black & Gold are getting healthier, with both fullbacks ready to return to the lineup. The games also gave Pedro Santos and the rest of the team a chance to adapt to a Federico Higuain-less attack.

While the Crew may be in bad form with one win in 10 games, Kansas City has won once in 11 contests. Injuries have decimated their lineup and have put the team at the bottom of the Western Conference. It’s an unfamiliar place for a team preaches the “Sporting Standard” and won the MLS Cup in 2013 and U.S. Open Cups in 2012, 2015 and 2017.
