Columbus Crew SC hasn’t tallied a point in five games. That’s losses came to the Montreal Impact, Portland Timbers, D.C. United (twice), and the Houston Dynamo. Now they face the team with the second best record in MLS as the LA Galaxy comes to town with a familiar face at the helm, the unparalleled hero of the 2008 MLS Cup winning Crew, Guillermo Barros Schelotto.
The slump has brought changes to the roster as the Black & Gold traded away Justin Meram and sent Lalas Abubakar on a season-long loan. Defensive midfielder David Guzman and attacker David Accam are inbound in an effort to change the team.
The visiting Galaxy have settled well under Schelotto and only trail the other LA team, the juggernaut Los Angeles Football ClubC. At 22 points, the Galaxy has separated themselves from all but the West Coast’s Black & Gold. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been the key offensive threat scoring nine goals.
What to read:
Nick Hudak digs into what makes the Galaxy tick and what the Black & Gold should look to do when they match up. Guilherme Torres expects a mostly unchanged Crew lineup in his team sheet prediction. David Guzman brings something a little different according to Mike Crosky, bite.
Live Updates:

Injuries, Suspensions, and Call-ups:
Columbus Crew: Only two names are on the injury list and they will both be out for a while. Harrison Afful will be out with a broken jaw suffered in March. He’s still several weeks away from returning. Milton Valenzuela is on the season-ending injury list with an ACL tear.
LA Galaxy: Midfielder Perry Kitchen is out with a foot injury and the big addition is dynamic attacker Romain Alessandrini joining him on the list after a knee injury suffered in April that will keep him out for months. Defender Julian Araujo is questionable.
