Loan report: A busy week away from the Crew

Goals and an assist for those on loan from the senior team

It was a busy week for Columbus Crew SC loanees this week as head coach Caleb Porter sent an addition three players out on loan for the weekend to get some game minutes. There was a standout performance from the six loanees this week. With the Black & Gold set to play three games in eight days starting this weekend, JJ Williams, Luis Argudo and John Kempin went on single-game loans. Ben Lundgaard, Edward Opoku and Alex Crognale also saw action as part of their ongoing loans.

Williams scored a brace as the impact sub for Birmingham Legion in their 3-2 win over St. Louis FC. Playing right wing, Williams struggled to find the ball until the 75th minute when he was able to latch on to a pass wide and slot the ball home. He then added a header in the 82nd minute to give the Legion a 3-1 lead.

Ben Lundgaard started his third game of the year for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds, backstopping the team’s 3-1 win over the Hartford Athletic.
