For the third straight season, Major League Soccer and Adidas are partnering up with Parley for the Oceans as part of their Greener Goals initiative to commemorate Earth Day. This year, Columbus Crew SC will be rocking a light blue jersey made of 100% recycled plastic collected from beaches and coastal communities.
Parley for the Oceans is an organization that “addresses major threats towards our oceans, the most important ecosystem of our planet.” The collaboration between MLS, Adidas and Parley for the Oceans encourages fans to decrease plastic use and shift their attitudes and behaviors towards plastic pollution and our planet.
The jersey is a simple design with the Crew crest, Acura logo and the three stripes of Adidas on the shoulders. On the back, between the shoulders the Crew SC name is adorned on a grey background.
All MLS teams will be wearing the Parley jerseys to cap off Earth Day week, meaning that fans will able to see these kits in action as the Portland Timbers come to town on April 20. The match is sure to be a special occasion as it will be the first time Caleb Porter will face his old team where he coached for five seasons before leaving following the 2017 season.
If you want to get one to wear to the match, the kits are on sale now on the Columbus Crew online shop.
What do you think about the kits? Are there any changes you would like to see in future parlay kits?
