Loan report: How the away Crew players performed this week

What’s going on with those Black & Gold players away from the team?

MLS: 2018 Portraits USA TODAY Sports

It was a very quiet week for Columbus Crew SC’s four players out on loan. A combination of injury, weather and scheduling kept three players out of action. Center back Alex Crognale’s Indy Eleven was off this week. Winger Eward Opoku’s Birmingham Legion had their game rained out. Only goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard made an appearance.

Lundgaard made the start on Saturday and recorded his first career shutout for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He has now made two starts on the season as he splits time as the Riverhounds’ other goalkeeper with Kyle Morton.

The full loan report is below:

Alex Crognale - Indy Eleven

Indy Eleven was off this week.

Next game is April 15 against the Swope Park Rangers.

Aboubakar Keita - Richmond Kickers

April 6 - Keita was not with the team as the Kickers tied South Georgia Tormenta FC 0-0 to earn their first points of the season. He is currently back with the Crew recovering from a minor injury and has been running and working to the side at practice. It is undetermined when he will return on loan to Richmond.

Next game is April 13 against Lansing Ignite FC.

Ben Lundgaard - Pittsburgh Riverhounds

April 6 - Lundgaard started and shut out Louisville City, making a single save at the Riverhounds won 1-0.

Next game is April 13th against Hartford Athletic in Pittsburgh.

Edward Opoku - Birmingham Legion

April 6 - Birmingham’s game against New York Red Bulls II was postponed due to weather.

Next game is April 13th at St. Louis FC.
