Columbus Crew SC is looking for the team’s first win of 2019 as the Black & Gold head to suburban Boston to face the New England Revolution. Both teams tied 1-1 in their opening matches but Columbus did it at home and New England managed a draw on the road.
The Crew struggled with a reserve-heavy New York Red Bulls squad on opening day. The Black & Gold gave up an early goal before scoring on a great Gaston Sauro header. Otherwise, the offense didn’t really create many chances in the first game under Caleb Porter.
Today is the Revs’ home opener after the team traveled to FC Dallas and tied the hosts, putting in an impressive effort to claw back an equalizer after giving up an early goal. New England showed an ability to counter attack and a solid defense, an area the team struggled with last season.
