Crew announces SportsTime Ohio & FOX Sports Ohio as local TV broadcast partners

All Columbus Crew SC matches will be on a television near you in 2019 and in the years to come. On Monday, the Crew announced a new multi-year television rights agreement with SportsTime Ohio and FOX Sports Ohio to produce and broadcast the Black & Gold’s games. The deal was originally reported by The Athletic’s Tom Reed in mid-February.

“On behalf of Columbus Crew SC, we are thrilled to announce this partnership with FOX Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio and we are excited to re-join their stellar programming lineup of broadcast coverage,” Crew President Tim Bezbatchenko said in the press release. “One of our core tenants as an organization is to seek deep engagement with our supporters and so we are pleased that this partnership allows for not only a top-notch broadcasting product, but also offers supporters the added benefit and flexibility to tune-in via the stream on FOX Sports GO.”

The agreement means that SportsTime Ohio and FOX Sports Ohio will broadcast 33 Crew matches in the 2019 season as well as 30-minute pre- and postgame show for each game. The Black & Gold’s Aug. 25 game at FC Cincinnati will be broadcast nationally on FOX Sports 1.

“FOX Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio are pleased to welcome the Columbus Crew back to our all-star programming lineup,” Vice President of Programming and Production for FOX Sports Ohio and SportsTime Ohio Tom Farmer said in the release. “This is a new era for the Crew, and we are excited to deliver in-depth coverage for the team’s passionate fan base.”

Along with the announcement of the new television deal, the Crew also announced the return of two familiar faces to the broadcast booth. Neil Sika and Dwight Burgess are both returning to call games for the Black & Gold in 2019, with Sika handling play-by-play and Burgess providing analysis. The will be Sika’s 13th complete season with the Crew after he handled the radio broadcast beginning in 2007. Burgess, who is also the head coach of the men’s soccer team at Wittenberg University, will return for his 24th season in the booth.

In addition to the games broadcasting on SportsTime Ohio and FOX Sports Ohio, each local broadcast will also be carried on FOX’s streaming app, FOX Sports GO. This app is available on iOS and Android devices as well as foxsportsgo.com. Streaming on FOX Sports GO is also available on connected devices, including on AppleTV, Android TV, FireTV, Roku and Xbox One.
