It’s another game day for the United States Men’s National team. The second game of the Gregg Berhalter era takes place on Saturday against visitors Costa Rica in Orlando, Florida. While neither team are expected to be fielding a full-strength lineup, the Costa Ricans will be another nice test for the new era of the USMNT under Berhalter.
The Red, White and Blue are coming off of an impressive 3-0 win over Panama in last Sunday’s friendly, which saw Chicago Fire Djordje Mihailovic open the scoring in the first half. Late goals from the Los Angeles Football Club duo of Walker Zimmerman and Christian Ramirez sealed Berhalter’s first win as the head coach of the U.S. National Team.
It will be interesting to see the changes, if any, that Berhalter decides to make in his second friendly in charge. He opted with starting Columbus Crew SC’s Gyasi Zardes at striker with goalkeeper Zack Steffen in net for nearly the entirety of the game. Wil Trapp added a cap in the last outing when he came off the bench late, but Berhalter may continue to start with longtime captain Michael Bradley.
Will the Berhalter era continue as smoothly as it started?
