The natives are restless in Central Ohio. Itching for the return of their beloved Columbus Crew SC, and we’re not even a week away from the season-opening game yet. The talk surrounding the home opener is gradually growing, given that there was certain doubt a year ago that the team would even exist after former investor-operator Anthony Precourt hoped to move the team to Austin, Texas

Normally we don’t see hype videos around MLS. They’re not rare, but rather just not as thought of. That’s not the case with Columbus, at least not this year. Under the new ownership group of Pete Edwards and Dee and Jimmy Haslam, there has been a rebranding of the social media and video presence.

Just last week, the digital media team released a hype video, mainly surrounding their home opener against the New York Red Bulls.

Throughout the video, you see many things that represent Columbus, and familiar faces of the club itself. From goals by Gyasi Zardes, to celebrations by Federico Higuain, this video will give you goosebumps and raise the expectations this upcoming season.

To start off, a billboard that faces away from the Columbus downtown area with the skyline in the back. The words over this specific part? “When it all goes down, I’m gonna run this town.”

Now what better way to promote the home opener, then inserting the Zardes goal during leg one of the MLS Cup Playoffs? Or, the goal that practically shredded the upper 90 corner of the net? Looking at you, captain Wil Trapp.

As the video rolls along, visuals of the faithful Nordecke appear as they cheer, dance and chant their hearts out in clouds of smoke that fill the Northeast corner of MAPFRE Stadium.

I won’t die in this town,” are the words spoken in the video as a shot of Columbus is shown, reassuring the fans of the Black & Gold that they are much alive and staying where they are.

Columbus host the Red Bulls Saturday March 2, at MAPFRE Stadium with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. ET.
