Massive Introductions: Who is Tyler Fisher?

Help us welcome one of our newest writers and learn a little about him.

Editor’s note: As Massive Report expands its staff in the coming week, we will introduce each new member by having them write a little something about themselves to help the MR community get to know them. Who are they? What’s their soccer background? How long have they been a fan of the Crew? Whatever they want to share to introduce themselves to our great and loyal readers. Today is Tyler Fisher. Tyler has already published his first article on MR but now you can learn about his background.

I got my start in soccer as a young kid, playing for the Salesian Boys and Girls Club of Columbus, located off of 6th Ave. and Grant in the Columbus Downtown area. I played in the Kids Inner-city Development Soccer league (also known as K.I.D.S).

I grew fond of the sport, and carried it with me to my teenage years.

After being a player, I became an official. Now I get to mentor and officiate games back in the league that I started in. Not to mention that I still do at the of 22 year old and I started when I was about 16 years young.

To this day, the love for the sport has never left my heart. And it never will.

Aside from soccer though, I am a graduate of The Ohio Media School, with a degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting with a special focus in Communications and Digital Media.

I am also the founder of SummerInk Media, which is a media marketing company that my former classmates and I created. (Our website is still not finished, but will be soon!)

My Journalism Career

After graduating school, I found my love for Communications and journalism as well as freelance photography.

It started in 2014 when a good friend of mine introduced me to VAVEL USA, an International Sports Newspaper that covers every sport you can think of. Of course, I chose to write about soccer.

I was able to acquire single-game press credentials for Columbus Crew SC, and then was able to make the jump to a full-season credential the following season. Thankfully, I was able to network with wonderful people from different outlets and gain journalistic friendships with them.

As my career took off, I was recently the MLS/USMNT editor for the soccer department of VAVEL USA, as well as contributing to Last Word On Sports. I’m currently in the process of building my portfolio for my photography, hoping to expand to much more than just being in Columbus.

My first great opportunity came when I travelled more than 50 hours by train to Portland, Oregon last year when the Crew took on the Portland Timbers. This was the best time ever, despite being stuck in Montana for about four hours.

I’ve been very privileged and blessed with as many opportunities that have came my way, and the opportunities that are still finding their way to me.

For example, I’m humbled and grateful for the opportunity to write for Massive Report, and am looking forward to helping the current staff grow the content provided to you guys, our readers, about the Crew

I hope to not disappoint those who are actively reading our content, as I will try my best to deliver in-depth analysis and quality reading material, as well as hopefully adding to our video content that I hope to produce.
