Columbus Crew SC heads farther west for the midweek game of their “three in eight”. The team headed straight to Portland on Sunday in preparation for the matchup with the Timbers.
Gregg Berhalter is going to change the lineup with several players held out of the game and not making the trip. Federico Higuain, who picked up a reportedly slight ankle injury in Dallas, is likely to be on that stays home. The team will have to fight through fatigue and adapt to a changed lineup to grind out a result.
Portland will also have similar challenges. They played in Texas on the weekend and have to travel to the East Coast for the upcoming weekend’s games. They will have to balance playing time for their key players versus the upcoming game in D.C.
