Columbus Crew SC welcome the Vancouver Whitecaps to MAPFRE Stadium for a Saturday afternoon match. The Black & Gold are currently tied atop the Major League Soccer standings after an unbeaten start to 2018, sitting on 10 points. The Whitecaps have had a similarly bright start to the season with a 2-1-1 record and are tied for the top spot in the Western Conference.

Massive Report’s Ralph Schudel provided the scouting report on the visiting Vancouver side, while Nathanial Marhefka looks at the tactics at play today.

Game updates:

78’ 2-1 Vancouver. Kei heads it home.

71’ It appeared Vancouver had taken the lead through Davies, but video review shows that the ball hit the winger’s hand and the goal is disallowed.

60’ Crew SC want a hand ball and a penalty kick as a deflection comes off a Vancouver defender’s hand as he was getting up. Referee does not give it though.

51’ And we’re tried. Nerwinski’s cross is punched away by a diving Steffen but it goes right to Shea who puts it into the open next.

Halftime: Crew SC 1 Whitecaps 0

29’ Santos has a pop from long range that’s saved by Marinovic. Zardes is on the doorstep to clean up the round. 1-0 Crew SC

23’ Santos leads the Crew SC fast break. His shot is deflected just wide. Best chance so far from the Black & Gold

20’ Nerwinski’s cross deflects off Shea and right into the path of Kamara. The former #CrewSC scorer skies it from inside the penalty area.

1’ We’re underway from MAPFRE!
