Columbus Crew SC announced Tuesday the signing of attacking midfielder Eduardo Sosa from Zamora FC.

The 21 year old began his career in the Zamora academy, making his debut for the first team in November of 2013. Since then, Sosa has made 59 appearances, 38 starts, scoring eight goals and adding six assists for Zamora.

“Eduardo is a player who at an early age has already proven he can compete at a high level,” sporting director and head coach Gregg Berhalter said in the press release. “Zamora FC is known for developing players and the club has been great to work with. We believe Eduardo has high potential and will fit well into our playing style. We look forward to working with him.”

In Sosa’s time with Zamora, he helped them club to three Primera Division titles (2014, 2015 and 2016). Last season, he made seven appearances, three starts, as part of Zamora’s run to the Copa Venezuela final.

Sosa recorded career-highs in appearances (45), goals (8) and assists (6) in 2017.

In addition to his league experience, Sosa has made five appearances (four starts) in the Copa Libertadores, South America’s club competition, where he recorded on goal.

The midfielder will officially be added to the Black & Gold roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa and will occupy an international roster slot on Crew SC’s roster.
