Columbus Crew SC picks Luis Argudo to finish 2018 SuperDraft

Wake Forest University midfielder will be competing to add depth

Columbus Crew SC added another midfielder in the later stages of the MLS SuperDraft on Sunday afternoon. The team picked Wake Forest product Luis Argudo during the 3rd round with the 67th overall pick.

Argudo started his college career at Elon University where he appeared in 39 games with 29 starts. He tallied a goal and three assists during his two years at Elon. Argudo transferred to Wake Forest for his junior and senior years of college. He stepped into the lineup af a junior, playing 25 games with 17 starts. He scored once and added four assists. He was a standout as a senior on the Deacons squad. He played in 23 games, starting each one. He scored eight goals and added six assists. Argudo leaves college with 10 goals and 13 assists.

Argudo faces a challenge to make the roster. Crew SC’s recent 3rd round picks, including, Vince Cicciarelli, Tomas Gomez, Robert Kristo, and Reed Matte have failed to land on the roster. Training camp opens on Wednesday in Lewis Center, Ohio before the team heads to Arizona, Hawaii, and South Carolina.
