With the 21st overall selection in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Columbus Crew SC select goalkeeper Ben Lundgaard out of Virginia Tech.

At 6-foot-5, 200 pounds, Lundgaard was an imposing presence between the pipes at Virginia Tech. The former Hokie played in games during all four seasons of his career, starting in 70 total matches. Lundgaard notched 312 saves during his four-year career, and posted a 1.28 goals against average and an impressive 33-27-9 record.

During his senior season, the Delaware native was named as the first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference goalkeeper.

With Zack Steffen as a lock to start, and having both acquired Jon Kempin via trade and recently re-signed Logan Ketterer, Lundgaard will be in competition for one of the three goalkeeper spots that Gregg Berhalter typically keeps... unless the head coach elects to keep four keepers in 2018.
