Columbus Crew SC filled out the goalkeeping corps with a familiar face, bringing back Logan Ketterer for another season with the team. Ketterer was drafted by Crew SC with the 71st pick in last year’s MLS SuperDraft. He didn’t make an appearance and his option was declined in November.
In a press release, head coach Gregg Berhalter underlined the values that prompted the team to bring him back: “Logan is a guy who does everything a coach asks him to do and he made a lot of progress in his first year in MLS. We look forward to seeing his continued development in his second year as a professional.”
Crew SC has one of the youngest goalkeeping groups in the league. Starter Zack Steffen is 22 years old. Recently acquired understudy Jon Kempin is 24 years old, but has seven years of pro experience after signing with Sporting Kansas City as a Homegrown player in 2010.
Ketterer, also 24 and in his second year, will look to compete for backup minutes with the more-seasoned Kempin.
