It is the first match of the Gold Cup for the United States Men’s National Team. It is also the most difficult of the scheduled matches.
The Red, White and Blue are one of four teams in Group B and are favorites to make it out alongside Saturday’s opponent, Panama.
In the last match between these two countries in March, a full-strength U.S. side left Panama City with a 1-1 draw as part of World Cup Qualifying. In this tournament, both teams have brought some of their reserve players, which will make for an interesting match.
The Yanks enter this game on the back of a 2-1 victory over Ghana in a tune-up match last weekend. It was an impressive performance from a relatively young side and the USMNT will look to ride the momentum of that contest into a this one.
