Kekuta Manneh arrived in a surprise trade in late March, but took a while to make his mark with Columbus Crew SC. It took a month to see the field as a substitute and another two games to make his first start. His first Crew SC goal and assist came two and a half months after his arrival.
Manneh’s slow start in Black & Gold apparently spurred some speculation that he was on the trading block for the second time this season. Kristian Dyer of Metro reported today that the team was shopping the speedy winger:
Another name on the move could be Columbus Crew SC forward Kekuta Manneh. Sources across the league tell Metro that the Crew has been placing calls about the forward and trying to find a landing spot for him.
Manneh started the Crew’s last game and scored but in the previous four matches, he was twice a substitute and twice went unused on the bench.
Massive Report can now officially refute those reports.
Per a league source, Crew SC are not currently looking to trade Manneh. The source didn’t have further detail on the contract situation with Manneh and the team, but Columbus isn’t looking to offload the winger during the current summer transfer window.
There are still plenty of other rumors with Crew SC reportedly after Venezuelan winger/striker John Murillo on a transfer from Benfica. The secondary transfer window closes on August 9th.
