Niko Hansen Undergoes Hernia Surgery

The Crew SC winger is to miss next three matches.

Columbus Crew SC announced Wednesday that winger Niko Hansen had successfully undergone a hernia operation. The surgery was performed in Mequon, Wisconsin and was to repair his inguinal hernia. No word was given on when he suffered the injury.

Hansen was one of two Crew SC first-round picks in the 2017 MLS Superdraft, take with the ninth overall selection. The rookie has made three starts this season for a total of 13 appearances. He burst on the scene with a goal in his debut, and has added two assists this year.

Hansen is expect to miss the Black & Gold’s next three matches against the Montreal Impact, Atlanta United, and Minnesota United. After that, Crew SC is off for nearly two weeks before returning to action against Eintracht Frankfurt in a friendly match on July 17.
