When Columbus and Toronto kickoff on Saturday night the Toronto FC defense will look a bit different. The Reds will be without veteran defender Drew Moor after it was discovered after a training session this week that he had an irregular heartbeat.
TFC released the following statement: “During a medical examination following a training session this week an arrhythmia was discovered in defender Drew Moor.”
An arrhythmia, better known as an irregular heart beat, occurs with a malfunction inside of the heart’s electrical system. Toronto went on to say, “further testing is necessary to determine diagnosis and management, which will take place next week.” Fans will recall this was the exact same ailment that kept USMNT and Seattle Sounders striker Clint Dempsey out of action for sometime.
As a precaution, the Reds have decided that Moor will not make the trip to Columbus this weekend. In his two years with Toronto, Moor has been one of their healthy and consistent starters, appearing in 37 of 39 matches in his tenure.
Along with Columbus Crew SC and Major League Soccer, we wish Drew Moor a quick and speedy recovery.
