Professional athletes don’t get to the top with a lack of self-belief. They achieve their dreams because they work hard and they always think they’re the best and going to win.

This is the case in Major League Soccer and was evident when various MLS players were asked for their predictions for their team in the 2017 season.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, nearly every player forecasted his side to win some kind of trophy.

“To become champions,” LA Galaxy’s Giovani Dos Santos said.

“The New England Revolution will definitely be 2017 MLS Cup Champions,” said Revolution forward Kei Kamara.

Don’t worry Columbus Crew SC fans, Ola Kamara is also confident in your team... sort of.

“My team is playoffs and win, hopefully,” he said.

Teams have proven time and time again there’s plenty of parity in MLS and a team can turn things around very quickly, so there’s no reason to think any given guy can’t be correct.

Unfortunately, not all of these teams can take home MLS Cup, or “the treble” in Tim Howard’s case, so lots of guys are going to be disappointed come the end of 2017.

At the start of the season though, hope springs eternal. That’s what makes this time of year is so much fun.
