Columbus Crew SC attacker and Designated Player Federico Higuain has been named as a finalist for the 2017 MLS Comeback Player of the Year.

After a difficult and injury-plagued 2016, where the Crew SC No. 10 scored only four goals and assisted on three others in 20 matches, Higuain returned to his productive ways, scoring nine times and providing 14 helpers in 26 matches. This is the second highest goal total and the most assist in a regular season in Higuain’s six years with the Black & Gold.

Columbs recognized Higuain’s return to form with a one-year contract extension, securing the Designated Player’s services through the 2018 season.

Joining Higuain as a finalists for Comeback Player of the Year are Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders) and Erick Torres (Houston Dynamo).
