Approximately 2,000 fans gathered at Columbus City Hall on an unseasonably warm October afternoon to show their love and support for Major League Soccer’s first franchise Columbus Crew SC.

The rally comes just five days after fans learned of owner Anthony Precourt’s intention to move the Black & Gold to Austin, TX in 2019 barring construction of a downtown stadium.

Crew SC fans are passionate about the club and when they learned of the possible move, many saw this as a call to action. Fans rushed into action and organized a rally to drum up support. Many local celebrities were on hand to show support and stand with the fans in their mission to Save The Crew.

People such as Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream founder Jeni Britton Bauer, Massive Report alum and current 97.1 The Fan host Jonathan “T-Bone” Smith, Former Ohio State basketball player Mark Titus and former player Dante Washington were just a few of the celebrities who spoke with the crowd.

Many fans took to social media to get the word out and the support was spectacular.

One thing to keep an eye on during this “Decision Day” is the number of #SaveTheCrew banners you see during matches.

Other supporters groups stand side by side with Crew fans in a showing of solidarity.
