Wil Trapp is hoping to help his country book a spot in the 2016 Summer Olympics. It was announced on Saturday that the Columbus Crew SC midfielder has received a call-up to the United States Under-23 men's national team for a two-match playoff against Colombia.

The playoff is set to determine the final berth in the Olympics, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this summer. The first leg takes place in Colombia on March 25 before the return match on March 29 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

Trapp was part of the U-23 team to finish third in the 2015 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying Championship. The USA defeated Canada 2-0 on October 13 to earn the right to square off with Colombia with the spot in the Olympics on the line.

Trapp made his debut with the senior U.S. team in a January 28, 2015 friendly loss to Chile. He was also a member of the United States' January camp and made one appearance against Canada on February 6.

Something that will please fans of the Black & Gold is that Trapp should not miss any time with his club while representing his country. After the away match with the Chicago Fire Saturday night, Columbus has is off until the April 2 match at FC Dallas.
