The Cameroon FA has released their squad for the upcoming 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifier and it includes Columbus Crew SC midfielder Tony Tchani. It's unclear if Tchani has accepted the invite or this is a provisional squad.
Tchani initially accepted an invite in November from Cameroon for their World Cup Qualifiers, but had to withdraw due to injury. He did accept an invite to the United States National Team's January camp. He made a single appearance as a substitute against Iceland.
Since the appearance with the U.S. was a friendly, Tchani is still able to play for either nation. If he does appear in a qualifier, he would be tied to that nation. Cameroon plays South Africa on Saturday, March 26th. Columbus Crew SC are off that week and Tchani would not miss time with the team.
Earlier Tchani said that he leans towards playing for the United States, but the opportunity with Cameroon may prove to be too good to pass up.
