The big jersey unveiling is Wednesday at City Hall, but Crew SC released a tidbit during the Supporters Summit on Tuesday evening. Team President Andy Loughnane revealed that gold jerseys are staying as an option for the 2016 season.
As Massive Report originally reported in June, the team will keep the 2015 black jersey as the primary and introduce a new secondary jersey that will be based off the city flag. The new wrinkle is that the gold shirts will be retained as a third option for "select games".
Fan reaction has been mixed at the possibility of the gold shirts going away and being replaced by something with non-team colors. The news was met with positive reactions on social media.
The new secondary jersey will be revealed at City Hall on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. The event will be streamed by Crew SC and Massive Report will have full coverage.
Correction: An earlier version of the story misquoted Loughnane. The yellow jersey will be used for "select games", not "select home games" as originally reported. We regret the error.
