Crew SC further cemented the front line today with the signing of Norwegian forward Ola Kamara. The striker comes off a loan with Molde of Norway. Kamara is of Sierra Lea
Kamara's senior career kicked off in 2006 at Stabæk with a brief loan to Hønefoss in 2007. He didn't find his footing until he transferred to Strømsgodset in 2009. He broke through with back to back double digit goal seasons in 2011 and 2012.
He scoring prowess earned him a transfer to Austrian Bundesliga team SV Ried, but he was loaned out to German second division team 1860 München for half a season, failing to find the net. He returned to Strømsgodset on loan and again found his scoring touch, getting 12 goals in 14 games.
The performance earned a transfer to Austria Wien in 2013, but he struggled mightily, scoring twice over 23 matches. He again set fire to the Tippeligaen with a loan to Molde where he scored 14 in 29 games.
Kamara also has Champions League and Europa League experience. He's played in four Champions League Qualifiers, scoring four times. He also has appeared 11 times in various Europa League competitions, scoring twice.
The move to MLS will pose a significant challenge for Kamara. He's scored early and often in the Tippeligaen with 58 career goals in 149 games. He had a very healthy .52 goals per 90 minutes. His numbers suffered when he left Norway. He has a .24 goals per 90 rate in the Austrian Bundesliga and failed to score in second division Germany over 374 minutes.
Kamara will take an international slot, something that will require some additional moves from Crew SC. Currently Columbus has nine players on roster occupying international slots with only eight available after roster compliance in early March.
