Crew SC face New England in final preseason game

Columbus will be in regular season mode as the starters will carry the load.

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

Columbus Crew SC will play their final game of the preseason this evening against the New England Revolution at 9pm. With just over a week to go before the season opener, this is head coach Gregg Berhalter's chance to give his team a full test before the games start counting. Crew SC is expecting to field a first team and push playing time to the full 90 minutes in the final tuneup.

The Black and Gold lineup is expected to be near a full first XI and that looks the same as the team that played in MLS Cup in December. Hector Jimenez has played on the left in place of a recovering Justin Meram. Meram's near full health and is a likely pick to return to the lineup.

The team will likely be sticking to normal rotations when looking at the subs bench. Crew SC played a 90 minute scrimmage earlier today against the Colorado Rapids, so many of the subs will be coming off a full game and won't be looking for fitness as in earlier preseason matches.

This will then provide the first real hints at Berhalter's depth chart and where newcomers like Emil Larsen, Ola Kamara, Conner Casey, Corey Ashe, and Amro Tarek fit in with the established starters. It doesn't look like anyone has come in and grabbed a starting spot. Tarek, Larsen, and Kamara were starters at prior clubs and will be looking to push into the lineup. This will be the first look at how close they may be.

The game will be video streamed at ColumbusCrewSC.com. This page will be updated with a link to the stream closer to gametime.
