Earlier this week, Columbus Crew SC owner Anthony Precourt tweeted that the Black & Gold would announce the team’s second Designated Player signing next week. We might have found out who that player is.
Hearing @ColumbusCrewSC will be announcing Jonathan Mensah as their new signing. 26yr old, 2x World Cup defender . #MLS

Jonathan Mensah, or ‘Jonathan’ as he typically goes by on his jersey, is a veteran of the Ghanian national team with 36 caps, including the last two FIFA World Cups, and one goal scored.
The defender was a member of Italian side Udinese in 2010-11 and most recently he made 15 appearances for FC Anzhi Makhachkala in the Russian Football Premier League.
Twellman is certainly well connected in the soccer world and his word, although not a certain confirmation, shouldn’t be taken lightly. It is also possible that Jonathan is not the DP signing, and there is more to come in the next week.
Massive Report is doing some digging and will have more information on this.
