Columbus Crew SC trades Bedell and waives Ryden on a busy deadline day

The moves open a spot for Jack McInerney and frees room for another signing.

Columbus Crew SC announced two moves early on Thursday as they waived rookie Kaylen Ryden and traded Adam Bedell to Orlando City to trim the roster to 27 before what's expected to be a busy day before the 5pm ET trade and transfer deadline.

Ryden, 24, was a drafted in the Fourth Round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft with the 69th overall pick. Ryden never made a regular season first team appearance, only appearing in the Valencia friendly in May. Ryden was loaned to the Austin Aztex and made nine appearances before being recalled in May.

Bedell, 23, was in his second year with Crew SC after being drafted in the Third Round in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft, 45th overall. Bedell was originally identified as part of Crew SC college combine in December 2013 and made 16 regular season appearances in 2014, including seven starts and notched two goals. Bedell started two Open Cup games in 2015 before being loaned to the Richmond Kickers on July 22nd. The team received Orlando City's best Second Round draft pick for the 2016 for Bedell.

These are apparently the first moves of a busy day with team investor/operator Anthony Precourt jumping in with tweet this morning:

Crew SC now has a roster spot and until 5pm ET to get any deals done. There are significant rumors linking the team to Argentine defender Gaston Sauro.
