It's the middle of the summer, which means it's time for the Major League Soccer All-Star Game.
The All-Star team is made up of players from around the league with a combination of fan voting, commissioner picks, and selections by All-Star head coach Pablo Mastroeni.
Columbus Crew SC has three players participating in tonight's match. League leading goal scorer Kei Kamara was selected by Masteroeni, while the league's top assist man, Ethan Finlay, and the league leader in assists by a defender, Waylon Francis, were added as replacements for players who could not compete.
The rest of the team is highlighted by some of the league's biggest names. The game will feature U.S. National Team members Clint Dempsey, Omar Gonzalez, Jozy Altidore, and Graham Zusi as well as international stars Kaka and David Villa.
Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard were both picked by commissioner Don Garber, but neither will participate in the contest due to injury. Other names that are missing out include U.S. National Team midfielder Michael Bradley, Toronto FC star Sebastian Giovinco, the Galaxy's Robbie Keane, and the New England Revolution defender Chris Tierney.
This year's edition sees the All Stars facing off against Tottenham Hotspurs of the English Premier League.
The Spurs finished last season in fifth place in the EPL, qualifying the side for the UEFA Europa League. Tottenham was led by England international Harry Kane and also features U.S. international DeAndre Yedlin, French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, among others.
