Crew SC reportedly targeting Brazilian wingback Zeca

The Brazilian youngster would augment the defense.

The first rumor of the transfer window didn't make too much sense, but the latest has Columbus Crew SC looking to bring on an attacking Brazilian wingback on loan. Zeca is a 21-year old who broke into the Santos squad in 2014 from the youth team, but may be enticed to move to MLS to raise his profile.

Zeca, whose full name is José Carlos Cracco Neto, made 15 appearances in Serie A as a left back. Reports specifically reference that Crew SC is looking to fill the hole at right back by bringing in Zeca and he's adept at either position.

Santos was reportedly reluctant to let go of Zeca and he's under contract until December 2017. The terms are reportedly a six month loan with an option to buy at around $300,000.

Columbus has been using converted winger Hector Jimenez at right back since the sudden departure of Hernan Grana in May. Zeca appears to be the ideal Berhalter signing. He would be a good fit, as he's a defender by training, but has been used as an attacking wingback by Santos. All while fitting within the budget.
