It wasn't the best performance by the United States Men's National Team in the opening game against Honduras, but a 2-1 win is three points any way you cut it.
Despite be out shot, out possessed and frankly outplayed by the Hondurans, the U.S. road two Clint Dempsey goals to a victory to kick off the 2015 Gold Cup.
Jurgen Klinsmann's men will look for a better performance in game two Friday night when the side takes on Haiti.
The Haitians earned a late 1-1 draw with Panama in the first match thanks to an 86th minute Duckens Nazon shot that beat LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo. Panama took the lead early in the second half on a rocket shot from Alberto Quintero in the 56th minute.
Friday night's game will be played in Foxborough, a place that the USMNT looks back on fondly. The Red, White, & Blue are a combined 16-2-5 at the old Foxboro Stadium and the new Gillette Stadium.
The Yanks will look to add the nation's 17th win to that area in this contest. If they do so, the U.S. will clinch a berth in the quarterfinals of the Gold Cup, where they will play in Baltimore, Saturday, July 18.
