Highlights from Columbus Crew SC's 3-1 Open Cup Victory

If you missed the Open Cup action (or don't want to rewatch the full match), here are the highlights from the game.

On Wednesday Columbus Crew SC defeated the Richmond Kickers 3-1 in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Crew SC changed its formation for the match, transitioning slightly from the typical 4-4-1-1 to 3-5-2 that head coach Gregg Berhalter called a 3-2-3-2 after the match. Columbus used a lineup made of mostly reserve players, but regular starters Emanuel Pogatetz, Tony Tchani, and Ethan Finlay all played from the start.

Two goals from striker Adam Bedell and one from Finlay, with a lapse in concentration by the defense in between, led to the final score line and Crew SC advancing to the next round where the team will face Orlando City SC.

The game was streamed through YouTube, but for those unable to watch - or fans that just want to relive the Black & Gold's first away win of the season - Massive Report thought you might like the match highlights.

In the 18th minute, midfielder Ben Speas found some space on the right side of the field and delivered a
dangerous ball into the Richmond 18-yard box. The 6-foot-7 Adam Bedell beat his man to the near post
and headed it passed goalkeeper Ryan Taylor for the 1-0 lead.

Midfielder Brian Owusu pulled the game level with a free kick after Tony Tchani committed a silly
foul 30 yards from goal. Owusu kept the ball low and appeared to trick goalkeeper Brad Stuver with his
strike to pull things level.

A Hector Jimenez cross caused issues for Ryan Taylor. Ethan Finlay was on the doorstep
to take advantage and give Columbus the lead back just before halftime.

Tony Tchani found Adam Bedell at the top of the 18-yard box in the 63rd minute. The big striker showed
off his finishing ability, curling a shot over Ryan Taylor and clipping the underside of the crossbar for his
brace and a commanding 3-1 lead for the Black & Gold that would see them through to the next round.
