It's been over a week since you've seen a Columbus Crew SC match... and it was not one to remember. After a scoreless first half with the New York Red Bulls, the Black and Gold conceded a penalty kick just a few minutes in today the second. Bradley Wright-Phillips converted from 12 yards out to give New York the lead. Tony Tchani equalized from a corner kick before a mistake by Michael Parkhurst led to the winner from Mike Grella.
Wednesday night's opponent, the Vancouver Whitecaps, currently sit atop the Major League Soccer table. They fell 3-1 to Toronto FC on the opening weekend of the season, before three straight one-goal wins.
The Whitecaps seemed to really find their stride last Saturday, defeating MLS Cup winners the LA Galaxy 2-0, with two second half goals.
It's the first of two games in four days for the Black and Gold, who will travel back into the U.S. and the across the country before Saturday's afternoon match with the New England Revolution.
