Columbus Crew SC Dollar Night is Upon Us

It's a date that should be marked on every Crew SC fan's calendar.

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The weather forecast for Saturday night's Columbus Crew SC game against the Philadelphia Union isn't great. It looks like it will be 49 degrees at kickoff with a 70 percent chance of rain and some wind. If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it is expect it to feel colder in MAPFRE Stadium.

Crew SC can't do anything about the weather, but they can help out with food and drinks. This match will be the first of three "Dollar Nights" this season.

If you are unfamiliar with the concept - and shame on you - it is rather simple. Dollar bratwursts, dollar beers.

There is a bit of a twist. While you can purchase your bratwursts at any concession stand in the stadium, the dollar beers are located at specific tents out on the grassy area outside of the stands. Yes, this means you have to go out of your way to get your dollar beer.

The beer is of the Budweiser variety and comes in a smaller cup than other beers around the stadium, but hey, it's one dollar ($1). You can only get two at a time, but if you get back in line, you can have those two finished by the time you get back to the front. Also the ladies who work the beer stands are always super nice, so be kind to them.

On top of all this, you get to watch the Black and Gold go for a second consecutive win. The Union have struggled this year, so Columbus could have another big night. And there is all of the other amenities of MAPFRE Stadium, including the new food and craft beers served. So if bratwursts and Budweisers aren't your thing, there remains plenty of options.

Despite the call for crummy weather, there are many reasons to go support Gregg Berhalter, Federico Higuain, Michael Parkhurst and company.

Have a good time. Drink a plenty and eat much. It is dollar night after all.
