I thought a fight about a log might have been the oddest/best beef of MLS Cup, but I was wrong. I don't think anything can top a library Twitter fight ahead of the meeting between the Portland Timbers and Columbus Crew SC. Portland's Multnomah County Library and the Columbus Public Library have been trading barbs and ripostes since yesterday in a war of words.
Multnomah County Library lobbed the first volley with a tweet of support for the Timbers and issued a challenge to Columbus's award winning library system.
Librarians Gesse & Alison are ready for Sunday! @ColumbusLibrary, how about you? #RCTID @TimbersFC @Booked107 pic.twitter.com/htuiUDFldM

Getting in the spirit of MLS Cup and supporting the hometown Crew SC, the Columbus Metropolitan Library tweeted some support for the team and poked fun at the visiting Timbers to escalate the feud.
A few reading ideas for @ColumbusCrewSC fans to fell the @TimbersFC!! @MultCoLib We're ready! #ForColumbus pic.twitter.com/5vfS5V7Mnq

The Multnomah County Library responded with a little bit of trash talk of their own on the soccer comprehension of Crew SC fans.
.@columbuslibrary Those books are okay, but we think Columbus fans should start here. #RCTID @TimbersFC @TimbersArmy pic.twitter.com/HN7JXRvaCm

Just like the team, the Columbus library wasn't done yet. They pulled out a little history from the audio/visual section. It's a good choice. It has a happy ending; I recommend it!
@MultCoLib @TimbersFC @timbersarmy Can't find that one in our catalog. We do have this though. #ForColumbus pic.twitter.com/ahdK2Wjq7C

The Multnomah County Library decided to look forward and issued a foreboding prediction for Sunday's game.
.@columbuslibrary Not bad, but you might have to add this one to your system too. #RCTID @TimbersFC @TimbersArmy pic.twitter.com/JbO1gHjfFG

No word if there's been bets placed on inter-library loan fees being waved for the winning library. Regardless, a beef between two libraries with civic pride lightened up the mood on the Friday before the Cup on Sunday.
