New signing Kristinn Steindorsson received his long awaited first call-up to the senior Icelandic National Team today. He joins the team as they prepare for two games against Canada on January 16 and January 19 in Orlando.

Similar to the U.S. National Team's January camp, Iceland has called in a very domestic and regional heavy roster. Only Steindorsson and Russian based defender Sölvi Ottesen come from outside Scandinavia. The games will give joint head coaches Lars Lagerbäck and Heimir Hallgrímsson a look at the player pool as Iceland prepares for EURO 2016 Qualifiers later in the year.

Steindorsson, 24, has played extensively with Icelandic Youth Teams, including nine appearances with the U-21 squad, including scoring a goal. He joined Crew SC last month from Halmstads BK.
