United State Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Tab Ramos announced today that Columbus Crew midfielder Romain Gall has been called up for the team's camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
"It's great," head coach Gregg Berhalter said on Tuesday.
"We see in him a young, dynamic player who has a good future. So I think it validates that when he's getting called into the Under-20 program."
Gall and Chivas de Guadalajara defender Luis Martir were announced as replacements on Tuesday for San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Tommy Thompson and Orland City SC defender Tyler Turner.
The camp will take place over 10 days and includes matches against Racing Club Reserves on September 4, Defensa y Justicia Reserves on September 6, and the Argentina U-20s on September 9. As such, Gall will miss this Sunday's Crew clash with Chivas USA.
The Black and Gold acquired Gall through a weighted lottery on August 7. The former Lorient II midfielder has made one appearance with the Crew, when he came off the bench during Columbus' 3-0 win over the Houston Dynamo and immediately earned applause from the Crew faithful with a dazzling run through multiple defenders.
An 18-year old Gall debuted for the U-20s in November 2013 in 4-1 win over Atalanta Primavera, scoring a goal and registering an assist. Gall was also called up for the 2014 NTC Invitational Tournament in Carson, California in July where he played in all three matches, helping the U.S. win the tournament.
