Federico Higuain's return to the lineup was short-lived as he left tonight's game against Real Salt Lake with a hamstring injury in the 44th minute. Higuain couldn't last until halftime and Crew head coach Gregg Berhalter put Ben Speas in the game to replace the injured designated player.
Berhalter did not know the extent of Higuain's injury when talking to reporters after the game, but he was not optimistic about having his offensive catalyst when the Crew plays D.C. United on Saturday. He answered with a curt "No chance" when asked about Higuain.
Berhalter then elaborated, "If it wasn't serious, there's no way we'd get him off that field. [Higuain] loves to be on the field."
Higuain has six goals and five assists on the season, both totals lead the team.
